The honest read
Feedly earned its place: it's one of the most polished feed readers available, with clean organization, team boards, AI Feeds for tracking topics, and its Leo assistant for filtering noise out of busy feeds. At about $12 a month for Pro+ billed annually, it's fairly priced for what it does. If your workflow is scanning headlines yourself — and you enjoy it — Feedly does that job well, and Readster won't do it better.
The two products answer different questions. Feedly gives you a better firehose; Readster removes the firehose. In Feedly, deduplication means filtering near-identical articles out of your feeds — you still read the survivors, item by item. Readster clusters every version of a story across all your sources into one entry with citations, writes it into a single narrative morning brief ranked against the watchlist you declared, and tells you when you're done.
On coverage: in Feedly you find the feeds and build the trackers. In Readster, a topic, company or person on your watchlist brings its own news coverage from the first night, and the podcasts and YouTube channels you follow are transcribed into the same brief. Newsletters work the same way — a private @in.readster.ai address feeds them in instead of adding another inbox — and if you track listed companies, their SEC filings come along too.
When Feedly is the better choice
Be honest about your workflow. If you like scanning feeds, want a solid way to organize hundreds of sources, or need shared boards for a team's news monitoring, Feedly at about $12 a month is the better buy — Readster costs more and would waste its main feature on you. Readster earns its price only when triage is your bottleneck: when the reading pile is the problem, not the reader.
